We all aspire to look better, but this often comes at a cost. High end products are just that – on the high-end of the price scale – and even drug store beauty buys can get expensive. In the past, I’ve written a post about saving money on beauty products. However, this time I wanted to go one step further and share some ways you can do it for free! So I have come up with 5 free tips to look more beautiful.
1. Raid your cupboards
If you’ve run out of a staple product like dry shampoo don’t fret! Pinterest has lots of DIY dry shampoo recipe ideas, with ingredients including baking soda and cocoa powder that you already likely to have. Check out my Pinterest board for beauty money-saving for a bit of inspiration.
2. Share your skills with your friends
Your friend might be great at hair, so why not get them to do it for free instead of forking out for the hairdresser to style it? In turn, you might be great at make-up so you can pay them back with a fab look for a night out! This can also work for nails too. And even if your skills aren’t that great, get on YouTube and check out some tutorials. You’ll be an expert in no time!
3. Go to a make up counter and have a make-over
Department stores are full of great brands, so why not visit one of their counters and get a make-over? Of course, their hope is that you will love the look they give you so much you will end up purchasing the products that they use on you. But of course, you don’t have to. It would be great to do this before a big night out, or perhaps on the day of a wedding. Looking great, for free, with very little effort on your part, what’s not to love?
4. Freebie websites
Wow Free Stuff* is one of my favourite sites to get free beauty bits. At the moment, they have lots of offers on free make up, including the chance to get your hands on a Clinique chubby lipstick, GHD hair straighteners and NARS blush. They also have links to lots of free perfume samples. This would be a great way to try before you buy if you’ve never smelt the scent before. Or how about keeping them in your bag – the perfect size for a night out! This website offers all sorts of different freebies so is definitely worth a visit. It takes you to different websites where you simply full in your details and voila – something for free! This includes prize draws and reviewing opportunities.
5. Use products that multi-task to save you buying multiple products
Don’t you just love multi-tasking products? For example, a lip colour that you can also use as a blusher means not having to fork out for different products. There are lots of other great variations on this. I was recently sent** the L’Oreal Face Mask Play Kit, and really appreciated the fact that it was a multi-task product. I’ve included a little review of this product to show you how it works, so read on if you’d like to know more!
L’Oréal Face Mask Play Kit Review
Did you realise that different areas of your face (such as your forehead, t-zone, and cheeks) have different skin care needs? The L’Oréal Paris Pure Clay masks allow you to create a tailored detox regime with your own multi-masking solution. You can apply 1, 2 or 3 of the masks at a time to address your skin’s different needs and multi-mask your way to more beautiful skin. The creamy textures work deep into the pores, leaving the skin looking purer, cleaner and brighter. Plus, it does all this without drying it out.
The mask contains:
– Green – Purity Mask
3 Pure Clays + Eucalyptus, known for its purifying properties.
– Red – Glow Mask
3 Pure Clays + Red Algae, known for its brightening properties.
– Black – Detox Mask
3 Pure Clays + Charcoal, which acts like a magnet to draw out impurities.
The mask is really simple to use. You just apply a thin layer onto clean skin on the desired parts of the face. Then, leave it to dry for 5-10 minutes, before removing with a wet towel or warm water. This can be done 2-3 times a week to get the best results. This mask can also be great to use after a work out or a night out to give your skin the boost it needs.
I must say I really enjoyed using this combo of different masks. The image on the front of the box showed where to put the different masks. The packaging also suggests different combinations, such as where to use it post-work out, to get the most benefits. The masks in this set are all minis, but they are also available for purchase in full sizes. I only used a little of each mask, so can imagine that this pack will last me a while. Because of the nature of the packaging on these ‘pod’ type samples, I did re-seal them with some cellotape as I was worried they may dry out. After taking the masks off, my skin felt super soft and I look forward to using the masks again soon.
You can buy this mask kit from a variety of different shops including Boots.
So these would be my 5 free tips to look more beautiful. What do you think? Do you have any great tips that you’d add? Let me know in the comments!
Until next time…
