Most of us lovely ladies enjoy using make up and cosmetics, but sometimes it can get costly. So here are my 5 top tips for saving money on beauty products:
1. Homemade Beauty Products and Hacks
How great is the idea of making our own beauty products at home. Pinterest is very inspiring, with lots of different products to try and create! Plus, there are tonnes of great hacks too, using products you might find in your home. Like, did you know that you could use coconut oil to help shave your legs, deodorise your body and as a lip gloss? There are so many multi-use products that can save you money so get pinning to find out more!
2. Check out the Drugstore Dupes
Of course we would all love to use high-end beauty products and cosmetics, but sometimes we just can’t afford to. However, there are so many great dupes for these products available in your local drugstore. Here are some of the best ones I’ve come across:
- High end: Benefit Hello Flawless liquid foundation SPF 25 30ml £29; Dupe: Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation 30ml £8.99
- High end: BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector (pressed) in Pearl £32; Dupe: Makeup Obsession Highlighter H102 Pearl £3
- High end: MAC Velvet Teddy £16.50; Dupe: Maybelline Color Drama Lip Pencil 630 Nude Perfection £4.99
As you can see, there is such a big price difference, yet the products are actually very similar.
3. Shop Online
If you read this blog often, you’ll know I’m a bit obsessed with shopping online (for example 10 of the best places to shop online). Therefore, it just had to be in one of my tips! You can use the shopping comparison tool on Google to find the product you’re after at the best price. Here is a quick price comparison I did for the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge:
It’s quite a handy tool if you want to shop around and get the best price, plus it adds it up to a total. It’s also good to be aware of when online stores are offering free shipping or deals on certain items.
4. Swap with Friends
Speak to your friends and see if they have any make-up they want to swap. Obviously, this wouldn’t be recommended for items like mascara, but it might work for other make-up. For example, have you ever picked up a foundation, tried it out once and felt it was completely the wrong colour for your skin so shoved it in a drawer? Or perhaps you were given some make-up for a gift and it just isn’t you. This is likely to have happened to your friends too, so why not do some swaps? You could even make a fun evening out of it!
I recently came across GratisfactionUK, the UK’s fastest growing freebies site. I’m always up for a freebie, so couldn’t wait to see what gems I could spot! Being a bit of a beauty junkie, I wanted to see what they had. Clicking straight onto cosmetics and beauty, I noticed that they currently have offers on Aussie, Benefit and Bare Minerals. You can get your hands on the items through competitions, giveaways and samples. Therefore, this website is perfect if you want to save a bit of money on beauty products. There are also flash bargains and voucher codes so it’s worth checking out GratisfactionUK if you are shopping online and want to get a good deal on whatever you may be buying.
