Bio Oil for Softer, Smoother Skin

Bio Oil is one of those products that seems to have been around forever. However, it is also one of those products that I haven’t actually got round to trying. I think that’s mainly because I’ve never suffered from the skin issues that the product seems to target such as stretch marks, scars and aging skin. However, when I heard that Bio Oil can also help with dehydrated skin, I knew I needed to try this wonder product!

Bio Oil is full of natural ingredients such as Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Calendula Oil, Lavender Oil, Rosemary Oil and Chamomile Oil. It also contains the amazing ingredient PurCellinOil which is particularly good for dehydrated skin. Bio Oil is a product that you can use if you have sensitive skin as it is hypoallergenic. I’m all about natural products at the moment so couldn’t wait to start using Bio-Oil*.

Many people can suffer from dry, dehydrated skin, especially in the colder months. Some of the reasons for this happening might be:

  • We clean ourselves with harsh soaps
  • We get hot and sweaty (especially you gym bunnies)
  • Weather such as the sun and wind
  • Central heating

As previously noted, Bio-Oil is targeted to people with scars, stretch marks, uneven skin tone, aging skin and dehydrated skin. However, there are lots of other ways this oil can be used:

  • a face/body moisturiser
  • to prepare skin before shaving
  • to protect nail cuticles
  • as a massage oil
  • as a bath oil
  • to treat sunburn

I used Bio-Oil daily in the morning after I had showered. Having never used an oil before as a moisturiser, it was a bit weird initially. I had to make sure I got the oil on my legs as soon as possible, as I found the oily liquid would try its best to seep through my fingers if I didn’t act quickly enough! Once the oil was on my skin, not much needed doing. Unlike my usual moisturisers, I barely needed to rub it in as it was really light on the skin. However it felt pretty moisturising on my legs. I tried to use this product every day, but this didn’t always happen with me being forgetful and usually always in a rush. On those days, I did notice a bit of a difference in my skin with it feeling a little dryer. I also found that the Bio-Oil moisturised my hands as I was applying it to my legs, so that was win-win.

[Apologies for the serious leg close up, I just wanted to share my results with you!] So overall, I was really impressed with this product and will continue to use it. Whilst now I am using it as a moisturiser, I hope in the future to use it when I am pregnant to reduce my chances of getting stretch marks. I’ll also be taking it on holiday to sooth any sunburn I may get! As well, I want to use it to prepare my skin before shaving. I’m pretty impressed with the different ways it can be used, so it’s definitely worth the money. Plus, Bio-Oil is currently on offer at Boots, with a 1/3 off. You can also get it from all the usual places you usually shop for your skin care.

So have you ever used Bio-Oil? Do you rate it or slate it? Has it helped you? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time…

Jean xoxo

* I was very kindly sent this product to try for free. However, all opinions are my own and I would never share any product with you that I didn’t love myself. I will receive no form of payment if you go on to Bio-Oil, I just wanted to link to make it for you if you do!
