Self care is something that is really important to me, and you might have seen it pop up in a few of my posts such as various monthly faves and tips for having a happy and healthy holiday. Whilst it can come in many forms, I definitely believe that a bit of pampering and enjoying a relaxing time every now and again is a great way to take care of yourself.
So when Blow Ltd. got in touch to ask if I would like a blow dry at home*, I was very quick to agree! For those of you who don’t know, Blow Ltd allow you to book expert mobile beauticians to your home/hotel/office/wherever you need them to come to. Pretty cool idea eh?! As well as blow dries, they also do make up, nails, lashes, waxing, massages, yoga and Pilates, wedding and corporate packages.
The process to get your service booked up is really easy:
1. Choose a service from their beauty & wellness menu.
2. Book your appointment: Select a date, time, location & payment method. They will then send you a confirmation message. You can either book online using their website or through their app.
3. Then relax! Their expert, vetted & insured beauty pros will arrive at your door with all the premium kit and products they need. No stress needed on your side because you don’t need to provide them with a thing (apart from a bit of space and a socket if they need a power source).
Whilst it is great that you can arrange for the beauty expert to come to you, you can also visit one of their beauty bars if that works better for you. They have one at Covent Garden and one at Canary Wharf.
So let’s get on to my pamper time! I was told it was best to have clean hair for the blow dry to look its best. I decided to wash it on the morning of my appointment and just let it dry naturally. I was greeted by my lovely expert at my front door and invited her in. I had decided to set up in the conservatory where the light was good and there was access to a socket. I put a chair out ready by the window, and was good to go! First of all I was shown a ‘menu’ of looks I could choose from. These were the choices I was given. I decided to go for a luxe blow for a different look than I would normally go for. I wasn’t sure how it would look with my shoulder length hair, so was excited to see the end results. My expert sprayed my hair a little with some water and then got the hairdryer out. I left her to work her magic using the hair dryer, curlers and the various Blow Ltd. own brand products she had with her. I remarked on how good they smelt and she told me that they were available on their website if I fancied getting my hands on them myself. She also said that they had lots of other great products in the online shop from other brands such as This Works and REN. Finally she straightened my fringe (which usually decides to do its own thing!) and revealed my new look! My blow dry was the equivalent of £40 for 40 mins. The prices are available here for all of the other services they offer. I generally think they are quite fairly priced considering the experts have to make their own way to you as well as provide the service.
So I went from this…
I was really happy with the end result! As someone who doesn’t ever really have a blow dry (unless the hairdresser is drying my hair before straightening it after a cut), I felt really pampered. I asked how long my blow dry would last for and the Blow Ltd. expert said a few days. Unfortunately, my waves dropped out about 8-9 hours later but that is likely to be down to the nature of my hair. Having a blow dry would be perfect just before a big event if you’re looking to rock it but don’t fancy styling your barnet yourself. Plus it could be a fun idea for a hen do or perhaps a baby shower with the wide range of services they offer. I think it is a great idea and definitely would be a service I would use again in the future.
Plus there’s great news you lovely lot! Whilst Blow Ltd. has only been based in London since being established, it’s coming to Manchester and Birmingham very soon! If you put your post code in here, you can find out if you can book a service to where you are.
So what do you think? Do you like my ‘do? Would you like to try this service out, or perhaps you have already? I would love to find out, let me know in the comments!
Until next time…
