IDEAS Birmingham Etsy Made Local Event

IDEAS Birmingham Etsy Made Local Event cover

A few months back, I was invited by IDEAS Birmingham to their Etsy Made Local event. To get me in the mood for the event, they very kindly sent me a goodie bag* so I could get a feel for what some of the sellers would be offering. I love myself a bit of Etsy so couldn’t wait to go and visit. Now it’s finally time for me to show you what I saw and picked up when I went to IDEAS Birmingham Etsy Made Local Event.

What is IDEAS Birmingham?

IDEAS Birmingham stands for Independent Designer Events for Artists & Shoppers in Birmingham and the surrounding areas. The team was started by a group of local Etsysellers who met through Craft Britannia, a UK Etsy sellers team. They knew from the start that while they wanted to focus on holding events in the city they didn’t want to restrict the team members to Birmingham alone. So along with their Brummie teamies, they also have members based in the West Midlands, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Staffordshire too. The team’s mission is to provide a friendly and supportive group that aims to help both full-time and part-time sellers expand their businesses. Everything that you see from IDEAS Birmingham has been written, designed or created by a small group of volunteers. They’ve been taking part in Etsy Made Local now since it first began in 2015. Each year their event gets bigger and better.

Goodie Bag from IDEAS Birmingham

So first of all I received a goodie bag* from IDEAS Birmingham. It featured some branded items from them, such as a canvas bag, notepad and a pencil.

Goodies from Some of the Brands Featured

As well as the goodies from IDEAS Birmigham, I was lucky enough to receive* some items from a couple of the brands exhibiting at the event.

I was so excited to discover what was inside!

Greetings Cards and Gift Tags by Chale Design (Etsy shop)

This event happened right at the very end of November, so perfect timing for Christmas. I loved this card and the tags – so useful to have and a lovely design. They were great quality too.

Items from Mythillogical (Etsy shop) and Blackbird Geranium (Etsy shop)

How cute are these items? I thought they were really unique and lovely.

A Beautiful Charm from Amulets & Artefacts by Michelle Tuck (Etsy shop)

How beautiful is this? I love charms and quotes so this was the perfect combo for me. It was worth £80 so I felt very lucky to receive it in my goodie bag. I also liked the look of many of the other charms included inside the booklet.

Scented Candles by Natty Designs (Etsy shop)

Not only did these candles look great, they smelt great too! Made from pure bees wax, I couldn’t wait to try them.

Also included in the goodie bag were discount vouchers from Firefly Handmade Creations & Honeypot Dolls. I was also very kindly gifted* £25 worth of vouchers from IDEAS Birmingham to spend on the day. I couldn’t wait to get to the event! It was happening quite local to me, at the Custard Factory in Birmingham, and I was joined on the day by my lovely momma and little lady.

Etsy Made Local Event

So the day of the event had finally arrived! I wanted to take you, my lovely readers along with me to see the event, so made sure I took lots of pictures. There was such a massive variety of stalls, there was literally something for everyone. I’ll share with you what I saw on the day. If you eye up anything you like, be sure to check out the Etsy page for the shop. There are so many talented people selling lots of lovely things over on Etsy.

Now without further ado…

I’m sure you’ll agree that there was a gorgeous array of stores!

Items We Picked Up

So at the event both my lovely momma and I picked up a few items, and I want to share them with you.

My momma picked up this lovely butter knife and pair of earrings from Oimillie.

My momma picked up this lovely star, and I got the ring holder from Ellartshop. Aren’t these handmade ceramics just so pretty? And the ring holder will come in so handy.

Here they are on closer inspection…

My momma picked up this fab tea towel from Blackbird Geranium. They use some gorgeous Liberty prints.

The bulk of my vouchers were spent at Firefly Handmade Creations. I was just drawn to the gorgeous smells coming from these wax melts that I just had to check them out! As you can see, I ended up choosing quite a few – some larger ones and some mini ones too. They came in such an incredible range of scents! Let me share them with you…

And finally I needed some chocolate in my life after a busy time shopping! From Mel’s Bakery, I selected a chocolate orange cupcake. It was totally delish!

So these were our purchases. My momma and I (and little one too of course!) had a great time at this event. It was full of lots of talented people selling some really lovely items. I would definitely like to visit again, and perhaps even exhibit myself in the future?! (I’m selling on Etsy now don’t you know with my other passion of teething jewellery – Mollie & Me Designs). We were really pleased with what we got and am so glad I could be introduced to so many great brands.

So which items did you like best? Which stall would you have visited? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time…

Jean xoxo

*I was gifted many items from IDEAS Birmingham and some of the brands exhibiting. However, all opinions are my own and I would never share anything I didn’t love myself
