So if you know me well, you’ll know I’m all about the chocolate. For as long as I can remember, my lovely momma used to buy me and my brother chocolate advent calendars in the run up to Christmas. Any excuse for chocolate for breakfast is a winner in my eyes! However, over the past few years since my brother and I have got older, moved out etc it’s something we don’t do anymore. I totally know it’s all about the kids so it’s all good!
However, over the last couple of years I’ve seen a whole host of ‘alternative’ advent calendars pop up – beauty, skin care, alcoholic…ther just seems to be such a variety! Therefore, I wanted to have a good look around and find some of the best alternative calendars that I might want to treat myself to this year, and of course share with you lovely lot! So here are the best alternative advent calendars of 2017…
So if you’re looking for advent calendars that won’t break the bank, here are some options…
This is such a cute idea! It’s basically a bracelet, and 23 charms which are revealed behind each door. A nice gift for someone, or even to yourself. I love the idea of having something to keep at the end of the month. Plus, a bracelet for £15 from Accessorize ain’t bad at all.

Grooming Advent Calendar, currently on sale for £12 instead of £20
Of course I didn’t want to leave the men out, so had to include this Man’Stuff grooming advent calendar from Debenhams. Yes, so it is a chocolate advent calendar, but it’s a tad alternative because it’s full of Brussel sprout shaped chocolates! It’s a fun gift to give to someone, who perhaps hates sprouts but loves chocolate! Plus, it’s one of your 5 a day, right?!
A lovely treat for those not wanting chocolate, but something else that is sweet! Full of gourmet marshmallows in the following flavours: S’mores, Candy Cane, Humbug, Gingerbread, Mint Choc Chip & Choc Orange. Such a great winter treat, toasting marshmallows each day in the run up to Christmas. How blummin amazing does that sound?!

The cost per glass works out to be £2, a real bargain this one despite the initial price tag. What a nice tipple each evening in December, to escape from the mayhem in the run up to Christmas.
So just like we couldn’t leave the men out, we don’t want to leave the pets out either! So if you feel like treating you perfect pooch this December, this might be the perfect way. It includes: Rise & Shines: Two flower-shaped treats, made with beef liver, fresh carrots, blackstrap molasses and alfalfa to help keep your dog’s coat as shiny as a Christmas bauble; Organic Cheese & Apple Training Treats: Little packs of our mini bone-shaped biscuits, made with organic apples and organic farmhouse cheddar to help keep your dog’s attention on wintry walks; Bedtime Biscuits: Single blissful bedtime treats, made with honey, yoghurt, chamomile and passion flowers, to help soothe your dog on Christmas Eve, before Father Christmas arrives. Another cute jewellery advent calendar, this time from Meri Meri. This beautifully crafted Meri Meri Advent Calendar comes in a decorative looking jewellery box, containing layers of drawers. Each day you open the drawer which holds a piece of the charm bracelet, building your own look charm bracelet. I just love the packaging of this advent calendar and how you can keep it for years to come.
A little bit more expensive…
If you don’t mind a bit of a splurge this December, here are some real treats…
